Basics

Privacy policy and terms

The App Store and Google Play both require a privacy policy URL before you can publish, and many apps also need terms of service. mapps.one generates both documents from a short questionnaire and hosts them at stable URLs that the stores accept.

Important: the generated documents are templates based on your answers. They are not legal advice and do not replace a lawyer. You are responsible for making sure they describe what your app really does and meet the laws that apply to you, such as the GDPR, KVKK, CCPA or COPPA.

Create and publish

  1. Open the app in the dashboard and choose the Legal tab.
  2. Pick the document: Privacy policy or Terms of service.
  3. Answer the questions: what data the app collects, which third-party services and SDKs it uses (analytics, ads, crash reporting, payments), whether it is meant for children and how users can contact you.
  4. Review the generated text, then choose Publish.

Each time you publish again, the document gets a new version and the public page updates. If you unpublish a document, its URL returns "404 Not Found". Avoid doing that while the URL is entered in a store console, because store reviewers check it.

The Legal page in the dashboard sidebar shows the documents of every app in the workspace in one place.

Links to published documents are added to your landing page automatically. After you publish or change a document, allow up to five minutes for cached copies to refresh.

Languages

You can publish each document in several languages. When someone opens the URL, we pick the version in this order:

  1. the language in the URL, such as /privacy/tr,
  2. the visitor's browser language,
  3. the app's primary language,
  4. any other published language.

The page lists the other available languages so readers can switch.

Add the URLs to the stores

App Store Connect

Open your app, go to App Privacy and paste https://mapps.one/habitly/privacy into Privacy Policy URL. Make sure your privacy "nutrition label" answers match the policy.

Google Play Console

Go to Policy and programs → App content → Privacy policy and paste the same URL. Keep the Data safety form consistent with the policy, because Google compares them.

Other stores

AppGallery Connect and Microsoft Partner Center also have a privacy policy field. The same URL works everywhere.

Keep it accurate

  • Update your answers and publish again whenever you add an SDK, start collecting new data or change how long you keep it.
  • If your app is aimed at children, check the store rules for kids' apps and the laws that protect children's data where you distribute.
  • Have a qualified lawyer review the documents if your app handles health, financial or other sensitive data.
